Events
- May 27 at 14:34 ( MSK ) - Soyuz TMA-15 spacecraft launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome
- May 29 at 16:36 ( MSK ) the ship docked to the Russian module of the ISS Zarya . [3]
- at 18:14 MSK, the ship’s hatches were opened and its crew entered the station. [four]
- December 1, 2009. Roman Romanenko, Frank De Winne and Robert Tersk said goodbye to Jeffrey Williams and Maxim Suraev , who both remained on the ISS. At 0.30 a.m. GMT, Romanenko, De Winne and Tersk took their places on the Soyuz TMA-15 spacecraft. At 0 hours 49 minutes, the hatch between the ISS and the Soyuz spacecraft was closed.
At 3 hours 56 minutes, the Soyuz TMA-15 undocked from the port directed to the Earth, the Zarya module.
At 6 hours and 26 minutes, the Soyuz engine for braking was turned on under the control of the ship’s commander Roman Romanenko. The engine worked for 4 minutes 19 seconds. At about 6 hours and 50 minutes at an altitude of about 140 km, the three compartments of the Soyuz spacecraft split.
At an altitude of 100 km, Soyuz entered the upper atmosphere. At this time, for 5.5 minutes, the astronauts experienced the greatest overloads, which reached 5 G. During this time, the descent vehicle reached an altitude of 40 km.
At about 7 o'clock at an altitude of 10 km a parachute was opened.
At 7 hours 15 minutes 34 seconds (13 hours 15 minutes Kazakhstan time), the Soyuz TMA-15 descent vehicle landed 80 km northeast of the city of Arkalyk .
The weather at the landing site was bad: frost and fog, search team helicopters could not quickly arrive at the landing site. The first, 15 minutes after landing, the Russian and American rescuers on all-terrain vehicles arrived at the descent vehicle. American rescuers are present at the landing of Soyuz spacecraft, since according to the ISS, it is the American side that is responsible for sending to the station and returning its astronauts, as well as European, Canadian and Japanese astronauts. The American side also pays for the flights of its, European, Canadian and Japanese astronauts (about $ 50 million for each astronaut).
Flight Emblem
At the heart of the Soyuz TMA-15 emblem is a drawing of a boy from the orphanage, Yuri Menkevich.
Talismans
The mascot of the ISS-20 was a soft toy “ Smesharik Bibi ”, which was given to Roman Romanenko by a 6-year-old daughter [5] , and the toy was also used as an indicator of weightlessness . [6]
