Thunder Force (also Thunderforce , the Japanese name サ ン ダ ー フ ォ ー ス) is a series of scrolling shooter video games developed by Technosoft

The first game in the series was released on the Sharp X1 Japanese home computer in 1983. Subsequent games in the series were released on various home systems. The series gained its main popularity due to the versions for the Sega Mega Drive game console . They also began to use the concept of a horizontal scroll shooter, unlike the first two parts of the series, which used a top view and scrolling in all directions.
