Gabriel Sakone ( French Gabriel de Saconay or Saconnex , 1527 - 1580 ) - French theologian , canon in Lyon .
He became famous for his fanatical hatred of the Reformation . He published an essay by the English king Henry VIII against Luther with a caustic preface. Calvin answered him with an equally caustic pamphlet: “Congratulation à vénérable prêtre messire Gabr. de Saconay, touchant la belle et mignonne préface, dont il a remparé le livre du roi d'Angletterre. "
The main works of Sakone: “De la providence de Dieu sur les rois de France très-chrétiens” (Lyon, 1568 ), “Traité de la vraie idolâtrie de notre temps” (Lyon, 1568), “Discours des premiers troubles advenus à Lyon” etc. (Lyon, 1569 ), “La Généalogie et la fin des huguenaux et découverte du calvinisme” (Lyon, 1572 ; wonderful prints are attached to this book that add special value to it).
