Isabela ( Tagalsk. Isabela ) - the province of the Philippines , located in the Cagayan Valley region on the island of Luzon . The administrative center is the city of Ilagan .

Geography
The area of ββthe province is 10 664.6 kmΒ². In the east, the territory of Isabela is washed by the Philippine Sea . On land it borders on several provinces: Kagayan , Nueva Viskaya , Kalinga , Aurora , Kirino , Ifugao and Gornaya . Geographically, the province is divided into two zones. The eastern zone is occupied by the Sierra Madre mountains . The lands here are not very suitable for farming, but the wild flora and fauna are rich. The western zone is a fertile valley that crosses the Kagayan, Siffu and Magat rivers.
History
In 1856, the province of Isabela was formed by royal decree, to which parts of the neighboring provinces, Kagayan and Nueva Bizkaia, passed. The name was given in honor of the Spanish Queen Isabella II . In 1901, the province passed into the possession of the Americans. In the struggle against the neocolonialists, General Emilio Aguinaldo played an important role. The Americans slightly changed the provinceβs economic profile, making corn and tobacco the dominant agricultural crops.
Population
The population of the province according to 2010 is 1,489,645 people [1] . The main language is ilocano . In the capital and large cities, the population understands and also uses English and Tagalog .

Economics
The most important industries in the province of Isabela are agriculture and forestry. Most of the land is sown with cereals, mainly rice . In addition to enterprises that process agricultural products, furniture production is represented in the province, crafts are developed. Mostly Chinese work in commerce, to a lesser extent Indians .
