Barekamavan

The village of Barekamavan has approximately 1,500-2,000 years of history. In the XVIII century, the population of the village was replenished with refugees from Artsakh . During the Karabakh conflict, the village found itself in a difficult situation. In 1992, the village first received 10 machines. A serious skirmish began in May, when animals and a shepherd were stolen. Shots and bestiality continued even after the war.

The name of the village of Barekamavan is translated as follows: “Barekam” (in Armenian Բարեկամ ) - a relative and “Van” (in Armenian Վան ) - place, settlement, i.e. "Settlement of relatives."

Basically, the population of the Tavush region , like Barekamavan, speaks the Ijevan dialect of the Armenian language , akin to the Artsakh dialect (since the main population of the Tavush region is a native of Artsakh in the 18th century ).
