The Thought Publishing House ( Moscow ) is a Soviet / Russian state publishing house that has existed since 1930 (the modern name is from 1963 ) [1] , isbn 978-5-904100 [2] .

Content
History
It was created in 1930 in Moscow as part of the USSR Council of Ministers State Committee for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade as the Publishing House of Socio-Economic Literature (Sotsekgiz) on the basis of the social and economic department of the State Publishing House , founded in 1919 [1] [3] .
In 1941 it was merged with the State Political Publishing House [3] .
In 1957, it was again allocated to an independent publishing house with the same name [3] .
In 1963 it received its modern name after the accession of the Publishing House of the Higher Party School and the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU . In the same year, the State Publishing House of Geographical Literature ( Geografgiz ) became part of the publishing house as a specialized edition of geographic literature [1] [3] .
In 1972, the volume of publishing products amounted to 292 titles (175.8 million printed sheets, prints) with a circulation of over 14 million copies.
In 1973, the publishing house had 3 specialized major editorial offices:
- socio-economic literature;
- educational literature for party educational institutions;
- geographical literature [4] .
In 1991, the State Unitary Enterprise "Thought" was registered. It ceased operations in 2004 by reorganization in the form of transformation [5] .
In 2004, the Publishing House "Thought" was registered (as of March 2019, it is current) [6] .
In 2005, the publisher’s archive and brand were purchased by a group of entrepreneurs led by Valentin Zavadnikov and Andrey Yakimchuk [7] [8] . To resume publishing, the brand was merged with the educational project " IRISEN " into a single brand "IRISEN / Thought." Financing of the new project went through a separate charitable foundation [8] .
- ANO "IRISEN" was registered in 2002 (as of March 2019, it is valid) [9] .
In 2018, the registration deadline for the thought of Publishing House "Thought" (FIPS Code: 380811) [10] .
Publishing in the USSR
In Soviet times, published studies, monographs, popular science books on Marxist-Leninist philosophy , as well as the history of philosophy , scientific atheism , the economics of socialism and communism, the world economy , the history of the USSR and world history , educational and methodological manuals on social sciences for higher party educational institutions and the system of political education on the economic and physical geography of the USSR and foreign countries.
