Montilla, William

William Montillier ( Fr. William Montillet ; July 16, 1879 - March 13, 1940 ) - Swiss organist and composer.

Apprentice Otto Barlan . Organist and choirmaster of the St. Joseph Cathedral in Geneva (since 1901 ). In 1922 , he held a series of concerts in the cathedral with the performance of all organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach , in 1936 he repeated it for broadcasts of Geneva Radio [1] . The author of the Mass of Saint Cecilia for mixed choir ( German: Messe Sainte Cecile ; 1911 ) and other church music. Professor of the Geneva Conservatory , founder ( 1918 ) of a special class of Gregorian singing . He also led a harmony class, translated into French the textbook of Salomon Yadasson on musical forms. Among the students of Montillier, in particular, Bernard Reichel , Renee Livron , Georges Kramer .
