Columbus Circle

In the center of the square stands a marble monument to Columbus on a 21-meter rostral column with images of the ships of the great navigator. This monument, designed by Italian Gaetano Russo, was erected in 1892 as part of the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America.
