History
The first serious success came to Tonner in 1958, when he first became the winner of the Cameroon Cup , after 5 years he almost repeated the success, reaching the final, in which, however, he was defeated by the Orix Douala club. Only 11 years later, in 1974, “Tonner” was able to achieve a victory in the Cup for the second time, thanks to which it became a member of the participants of the newly created Cup of CAF Cup Winners , having entered into history as its first owner in 1975. The following year, Tonner almost managed to defend the title, however, in the final, he lost the sum of 2 matches to the Nigerian club “ Shooting Stars ”.
The period of the 1980s was truly golden for Tonner, because in this decade the club not only became the champion of the country for the first time in 1981, but was able to repeat this success 4 more times. In addition, during this period, "Tonner" once again became the vice-champion, twice became the winner of the country's Cup and in 1989 became the semi-finalist of the African Champions Cup .
The 1990s became much less successful for Tonner, and if at the beginning, by inertia from the past decade, the club still achieved some success, once again becoming the Cup winner and twice reaching the final, then abruptly went into the shadows, only In 1998, having managed to take a high 3rd place in the national championship.
The beginning of the 21st century for Tonner was optimistic, in 2001 he became the silver medalist of the championship, which allowed him to participate in 2002 and reach the CAF Cup final, in which, however, Cameroonians lost 2 matches to the Algerian club Kabiliya ". But these successes did not develop, instead a gradual regress went on, which led to the fact that in 2005 Tonner took 15th place at the end of the season and flew down to the lower league, and despite the fact that he managed to return to the top the echelon of Cameroonian football for one season, and following the results of the championship of 2007, to gain a foothold in the middle of the table, taking 9th place, however, the decline continued, and already in the next, 2008, Tonner took only the last but 15th place again left the strongest league in Cameroon.
