Biography

Coat of arms of Louis until 1428

Coat of arms of Louis since 1428 (after the acquisition of Auvergne Dauphine)

Unlike his father and brother, Louis practically did not take part in the military conflicts of his time. He participated only in the battle of Beauvais in 1430 . He spent much more time in his possessions.

After marrying Jeanne of Auvergne in 1426, Louis got the Dauphin and County of Sancerre by marriage. After the death of his wife in 1436, her possession of the possessions was to be transferred to the elder brother of Louis, Duke Charles I [1] , but he ceded them to his younger brother, as in 1434 he ceded the inheritance of his mother - the county of Montpensier . County Sancerre in 1451 passed to the cousin of Jeanne, Jean V de Bueil [2] [3] .

Secondly, Louis married in 1443 the cousin of his first wife, Gabrielle de La Tour.

Louis died in 1486 ; his eldest son, Gilbert , inherited his possessions.

Notes

  1. ↑ Karl was the eldest grandson of Anna of Auverne , daughter of Dauphin Auvergne Bero II the Great .
  2. ↑ The transcription of Buye corresponds to the publication Philippe de Commine. Memoirs. - M.: Science, 1986 .
  3. ↑ Anna of Auvergne (see note above) was the oldest daughter of Bero II from her first marriage. The owner of the county of Sancerre was the third wife of the Dauphin Auvergne Margarita de Blois-Sancer. Thus, the county of Sancerre passed not to the descendants of the eldest daughter of Bero II, but to his descendants from Margarita.
