The village was founded by Cossacks who arrived to guard the border. Krasnokholm - Cossack village, founded around 1812.
The first mention of Krasnokholm in the press is by the writer - traveler Svinin, when he describes his journey along the salt road to Iletskaya Zashchita, which he made in 1825. In this description, Redholm is referred to as a village inhabited by resettled peasants.
