Since 1964, the island has been a protected natural area created to preserve rare species [1] . There are no snakes , cats and foxes on Bold Island that pose a danger to the inhabitants of the island.
104 plant species were found on the island, including rare Agonis flexuosa , Melaleuca lanceolata , Eucalyptus lehmannii , Melaleuca microphylla and others. Skink and gecko are common from reptiles, Pterodroma macroptera and small penguin from birds, and Australian sea lion and New Zealand fur seal from marine mammals. The island is one of the few places where the Quocca lives - a small kangaroo . In 2005, Potorous gilbertii was introduced to the island [2] . Another successfully introduced species is a noisy shrub bird ( Atrichornis clamosus ) [3] .
