Macropidia ( lat. Macropidia ) is a monotypic genus of herbaceous plants of the Hemodoric family ( lat. Haemodoraceae ), represented by the only species - Macropidia dark brown ( lat. Macropidia fuliginosa ). It grows in the south-west of Australia , from Perth in the south to Heraldton in the north [2] [3] .

Botanical Description
Sooty Anigozanthos, now known as Macropidia fuliginosa - Botanical Magazine, No. 4317.
Evergreen herbaceous plant 0.2-1.8 meters high.
The leaves are vertical, green-yellow, growing from a rhizome , which helps the plant tolerate drought and fires .
Flowers appear in spring and summer on a vertical, forked stem , about a meter high.
Black, short hairs grow throughout the stem and flowers [4] .
