Title
There are three main versions about the origin of the name of the group, having oriental roots. According to the first version, Gurishankar ( Skt. गौरि सन्कर् , English Gauri Sankar ) is the name of the peak in the Himalayas to the West of the peak of Everest, 7140 m high. Translated from Sanskrit, meaning “Goddess and her husband”.
According to the second version, Gurishankar ( Sanskrit गो उरिस्हन्कर् , English Gourishankar ) in Sanskrit means "a mountain as large or similar to Everest."
According to the third version, the group was named after the Gurishankar technique of dynamic meditation, which was developed and promoted by the Indian religious leader Bhagwan Sri Rajneesh ( Osho ). Proponents of this version point to the statements of the musicians that their music is actually an attempt to combine the spontaneity of the East and the rationality of the West and is a dizzying dance marathon, lifting up.
This description closely matches the Osho meditation technique, which consists of 4 stages, the first and second of which prepare the Latihan meditator for spontaneous dance in the third stage, and if breathing is performed correctly, the carbon dioxide formed in the blood creates sensations, similar to the sensations of being on Everest (Gurishankar).
