Career

Guenther first participated in international competitions on December 19, 1998 , winning the FIS race in Austria in the parallel slalom discipline. At the beginning of her career, she participated in several disciplines at once, and in her first stage of the World Cup she participated in parallel slalom and snowboard cross-country.

Gunther won two stages in the parallel giant slalom before the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , and also took several times on the podium in other types of snowboarding. She became the second at the end of the World Cup in parallel giant slalom, and was able to qualify for the Olympics in this type of program, but could not finish in the qualification.

After that, Gunther was unable to take prizes in the next season, and only at the beginning of 2004 she became second in one of the stages. The following year there were several second places, and then she again won the World Cup. Participating in the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin , she became the 14th in snowboard cross-country and the fourth in parallel giant slalom.

In the next post-Olympic season, Gunther did not become a medalist at the World Cup stages, but then every year she won at least once. In 2009, she won four victories, became the second in the World Cup in parallel events and the first in the overall standings, and also won two silver medals at the World Cup .
