Juan José Arreola Zuniga ( Spanish: Juan José Arreola Zúñiga ; 1918 - 2001 ) - Mexican writer, classic Mexican literature. Professor of the Theater School of Fine Arts ( Escuela Teatral de Bellas Artes , since 1941), National Autonomous University of Mexico (since 1964). He introduced the genre of intellectual fiction into the literature of Mexico; collections of stories are devoted to the philosophical problems of human existence. “Various fabrications” (1949), “Confabulario” (1952), etc. In these stories, the action takes place simultaneously in the world of reality and in the world of fiction. The novel "Holiday" (1963) depicts the life of the province.

He described the provincial life in his hometown in his only novel La feria (1963). Since 1937 he lived in Mexico City .
Winner of many national literary awards in Mexico, including the Juan Rulfo Prize ( 1992 ).
