Seria is the Brunei oil field located offshore 20 km from the coast. Seria is the very first oil field in Brunei , the oil boom of this small country with a population of 300 thousand people begins with it. Opened in 1929 . Initial reserves amount to 300 million tons of oil .
Oil content is associated with deposits of the Neogene age. Deposits at a depth of 0.25 - 2.7 km , containing 24 oil-saturated formations. Sea depth 7-15 m .
The operator of the deposit is the government of Brunei . Oil production in 2008 amounted to 5 million tons .
Shell, a British oil company, and the Brunei governments have set up a joint venture, Brunei Shell Petroleum, for the exploration and production of southern Seria. In 2005, North Flank was opened. Five exploratory wells are planned to be drilled in the Series North Flank area in 2006 .
North Flank is located 4 km from the coast at a depth of 2-10 m and stretches about 5 km along the coastline. Initial reserves are estimated at 16 million tons of oil .
