Chronicle
His work until 1125 is a simple alteration of the chronicles of Kozma of Prague , but then it becomes independent. In 1157, the text of the chronicle is interrupted by the subtitle “On the nobility of King Vladislav and his brother Duke Theobald ”; brought to 1162 [2] [3] , but it was written somewhat later, in the 1170s [4] (according to Y. Nekhutova, between 1173 and 1176 [2] ). In some places the text of the Sazavsky monk reveals rhetorical features characteristic of Kozma, in others it is closer to the hagiographic style [2] .
The Sazavian monk paid considerable attention to expounding the fate of the Slavic liturgy in the Czech Republic , as well as the deeds of the Sazavsky monastery, where the service was performed first (in the 9th century ) in the Slavic language. In his chronicle, the monk decided to expound the history of the Sazava Benedictine monastery that was missed at Kozma of Prague, also mentioning the tradition of Slavic worship that existed in it [5] . Using the information of the so-called Small Life about the founder of the monastery of St. Prokope , he included in his chronicle the legend of this saint [6] .
The chronicle of the Sazavian monk is preserved in two manuscripts dating to the 13th century and published by Menken (3 vols. Scriptores rerum Germanicarum , 1730) and Pelzl and Dobrovsky (1 vol. Scriptores rerum Bohemicarum , 1783).
