Career
At the beginning of his career, James played in the Lincoln groups Kid Quarkstar, Mondello, and Happy Dog. In 2000, Happy Dog changed its name to Square and moved to Los Angeles , California . There he met with Adam Levine , Jesse Carmichael , Mickey Madden and Ryan Dasik . In 2001, they created the Maroon 5 band.
Valentine is a friend of John Mayer, whom he met in 1996 at Berkeley in Boston, Massachusetts. [1] One day, Valentine tried to persuade Mayer to go to Lincoln to play guitar for the Lincoln blues-rock bands Baby Jason and Spankers. Warming up on Mayer's 2003 summer tour helped Maroon 5 gain popularity [1] .
