Career
Miriam Manzano became interested in figure skating at 4 years old when she saw the ice show on TV. When her parents bought her roller skates , the girl pretended to be on the ice, and then her parents took her to the section. [1] Manzano finally started skating when she was already 12 years old, and was able to complete the triple jump only at 18 ( salchow ). The skater explained that she had previously successfully made the more complex double axel , and also successfully performed the triple lutz , but salchow is the most difficult for her. [1] The athlete lived and trained in Canberra , although she complained that the city had a small ice rink. [one]
After the 1997-1998 season, she left amateur sports, but returned in 2000, and in 2002 surprised figure skaters, at twenty-seven years old she took 16th place in the World Cup - the highest for Australia since 1997 , when Joan Carter became the 12th. “When I left [from the sport], I felt like I had gone to hell and stopped progressing, so I decided to take a break,” Manzano commented. [1] The 2002-2003 season was the best in her career, in particular, the athlete took 10th place in the championship of the Four Continents . [2] In the future, she does not plan to go to university, but instead wants to work as a coach and devote herself to figure skating. [one]
