History
Bendell Insurance is one of the six founding clubs of the Nigerian Premier League in 1972 . In their history, the “Vipers” twice became champions of the country and won the Nigeria Cup three times, however, these successes date back to the 70s of the 20th century . Among the successes in the international arena, it is worth noting the club’s entry into the 1980 Champions Cup semi- final , as well as the victory in the CAF Cup in 1994 , where the Angolan “Primera de Mayu” from Benguela was defeated in two matches in the finals. In the 2007/08 season, Vipers were hit hard - largely due to financial problems, the team took the last, twentieth place in the Nigeria championship and left the Premier League for the first time in its history.
