Prosecution

Since November 2011, Inyaki Urdangarin and his business partners have been under investigation in a corruption case involving the construction of the Palma Arena velodrome. From December 12, Urdangarin was excluded from participation in official events of the Spanish royal house in connection with his "un-exemplary" behavior. On December 29, 2011, Urdangarin in the case of “Noos” was transferred to suspects of embezzlement of public funds, fraud, tax fraud, falsification of documents, misconduct and money laundering . In his testimony in the case before Judge José Castro, Urdangarin stated that he had no idea of ​​the existence of companies involved in the withdrawal of public funds, accused Diego Torres of his partner and assured him that he was not involved in the case of Infanta Cristina. On February 17, 2017, the Provincial Court of Justice of Palma sentenced Iñaki Urdangarin to 6 years and 3 months in prison.

On June 13, 2018, the Court of Justice of the City of Palma reduced the sentence to Urdangarin to five years and ten months and gave exactly five days to come to any of the correctional institutions in Spain to serve the sentence. On the morning of June 18, Inaki Undargarin voluntarily went to Briev de Avila prison in the province of Avila [1] .
