This is the last Poirot novel by the time of writing by Agatha Christie. The novel The Curtain , in which Poirot dies, was written at the beginning of the Second World War. [one]
In this novel, Poirot investigates the case along with the writer Ariadne Oliver , who accompanies Poirot in almost all the later novels of Christie. The novel is considered one of Christie's weaker works. The authoritative English edition of The Cambridge Guide to Women's Writing in English described the novel as “ one of Christie’s most unpleasant recent novels, where she lost her grip ” [2] .
