Anton von Rutner ( German: Anton von Ruthner ; September 21, 1817 , Vienna - December 17, 1897 , Salzburg ) - Austrian geographer, explorer of the Alps; known as an undaunted explorer who climbed the highest peaks of the Austrian Alps. Together with Friedrich Simony ( German: Friedrich Simony ) and Karl Zonclar is considered a pioneer in the study of the Alps. Being a lawyer by training, he was in the Austrian judicial service.
