Geography

The North-West England region covers an area of ​​14,165 km² (6th among the regions), washed in the west by the Irish Sea , bordered in the north-west by Scotland , in the north-east by the regions North-East England and Yorkshire and the Humber , in the south east-east with the Midlands , south with the West Midlands , southwest with Wales .

Policy

The Board of Directors of the Northwest Region ( 4NW ), created in 2008, brings together the efforts of local councils and the private non-governmental sector in the region. The area of ​​responsibility of the board includes the solution of housing issues, planning, transportation and economic development [3] . The central office of the board is located in Wigan , Greater Manchester County [4] .

In the North West England region, seven of the 50 administrative units of England with city status are located:

  • Carlisle City with the main city of Carlisle is the center of the Diocese of Carlisle ( Diocese , Diocese of Carlisle ) [7] , has local government and is headed by the Mayor of Carlisle . In 2010, Mary Steel became Mayor of Carlisle [8] .
