Hageotsereus

Hageotsereus ( lat. Haageocereus ) is a genus of plants of the cactus family. Named after Walter Hage , the hereditary owner of Kakteen-Haage, who wrote several books about cacti.

Description

The stem of the hagocereus is erect, up to 2 m tall, sometimes candelabra, and in other species creeping. Ribs 14-20, they are shallow, but clearly expressed.

Radial spines numerous, 20-40, thin, rigid; central spines 1-4, they are more powerful, up to 7 cm long.

Funnel-shaped flowers , slightly pubescent, appear from the areola in the upper part of the stem, 7-10 cm in length and up to 5 cm in diameter, most often white, pink or greenish. Fruits are juicy, berry-shaped, covered with hairs and scales.

Spread

Homeland of this genus - the west of Peru and northern Chile . Representatives of the genus are found on the rocky coast, as well as in the hilly central areas, in deserts and semi-deserts, at an altitude of 100 to 3000 m above sea level.
