Story
The film takes place in the XVII century. A senior Korean official, Hong, has two sons. The mother of one of them - Gil Dong - is the poor concubine Chun Sung, she and Gil Dong are literally plagued by the official wife of the official. In Hong Gil Dong, an extremely clever boy, all this causes a wave of misunderstanding. Why can't a brother be called a brother and a father a father?
At this time, serious social problems arise in the province of Pyongyang, where the people are literally exhausted by the overwhelming demands of their ruler, plus the robbers are acting brazenly. The emperor decides to send Hon there. The official wife was afraid to go from Seoul to the rebel zone, but the concubine, on the contrary, asked for it, although she prudently rented a separate house. Hon's insidious wife hires a gang of robbers to deal with her rival. On the way, Gil Dong and his mother are attacked. Violence in time is stopped literally from the sky by a fallen old man - the wise master of Tao . He knows how to fly, catch arrows with his hands and strike at points on his body, causing enemies to freeze for a while. The master takes Gil Dong and his mother to himself and becomes the teacher of a boy who wants to become a Tao master and a fighter for justice.
Having grown up Gil Dong, fate is once again preparing a meeting with long-standing offenders - in a fight, Gil Dong accidentally kills the leader of a gang of robbers. The brother of the deceased, his successor as the leader of the gang, Thek De, wants to take revenge, but eventually penetrates the nobility and wisdom of Gil Dong and becomes his companion. The young man, having perfectly mastered the fighting arts and calling himself the Guy with the flute, protects the common people from robbers, cruel officials and Japanese destroyers - ninja squads.
The plot of the film successfully complements the love line. Gil Dong saves from the hands of the bandits the girl Young Hu, who is the daughter of his father's long-time rival, adviser Lim. Young people fall in love with each other and are going to get married. Their fathers are glad of the opportunity to intermarry and forget the long-standing hostility of their families. However, when the girl’s father, counselor Lim finds out that Gil Dong’s mother is a simple concubine, he enrages and forbids her daughter to marry. The girl runs away from home, young together, no matter what.
