Charles Joseph Clark ( born Charles June 5, 1939 , High River, Alberta , Canada ) is a Canadian statesman and politician. The youngest prime minister in Canadian history (took office the day before his 40th birthday).

Biography
He graduated from the Law School of the University of Alberta and Dalhaus University, receiving respectively a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in political science in 1973. In the same year he married Maureen Maktyr. In their marriage in 1976, a daughter Catherine was born, now an employee of one of the Canadian television companies [3] .
He worked as a journalist for the Edmonton Journal, Calagari Herald, the Canadian Press Agency, and the CBC Broadcasting Company. In 1967, Davy Fulton's special assistant, in the period from 1967-1970, Robert Stanfield's executive assistant.
He was the leader of the student wing of the Progressive Conservative Party. At the same time, he held many social-liberal positions, was among the first Canadian politicians to advocate for the decriminalization of marijuana and a guaranteed minimum income for everyone, which was characteristic of the Red Tory wing.
From 1973 to 1993 - Member of the House of Commons of the Federal Parliament of Canada. Joe Clark was twice elected leader of the Progressive Conservative Party: from 1976 to 1983 and from 1998 to 2003.
February 22, 1976 - June 3, 1979 - Leader of the official opposition.
April 6, 1979 - March 2, 1980 - Prime Minister of Canada.
March 3, 1980 - February 1, 1983 - Leader of the official opposition.
September 17, 1984 - April 20, 1991 - Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
From February 13 to 26, 1985 - Acting Secretary of Defense of Canada.
From December 18, 1988 to January 29, 1989 - Acting Secretary of Justice and Attorney General of Canada.
April 21, 1991 - June 24, 1993 - Chairman of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada and Executive Minister of Constitutional Affairs.
1993-1998 professor, consultant, taught political science at the University of Alberta.
Since September 11, 2000 - again a member of parliament.
On May 31, 2003, he resigned and did not run for parliament in the May 2004 elections .
Since 2004, he has been engaged in teaching and activities in the field of the development of international relations (in particular, since 2006 a professor at McGill University ). Wrote the book How We Lead: Canada in a Century of Change (2013).
