History
The Radetzky march was written by Johann Strauss Sr. as a greeting to Field Marshal Johann Joseph Wenzel Radetzky 's troops, returning after the suppression of the uprising in Italy , and was first executed on August 31, 1848 on the streets of Vienna in front of passing troops.
Later he became the parade march of the Radetzky hussar regiment [1] .
In the middle of the 19th century, the Austrian Schramm, becoming Kapellmeister of the Royal Dragoons Guards Regiment Of Great Britain, presented the “Radetzky March” as very suitable for the English cavalry regiment. Marsh received an even stronger connection with the regiment in 1896 , when the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph I became the regiment's chief and gave permission to accept the Austrian double-headed eagle as a banner. The Radetzky march today is a fast march of the regiment [1] .

- Radetzky's march every time ends the New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra . According to tradition, the audience accompanies his performance with a rhythmic clapping and stamping with his feet. (It is said that this tradition goes back to the first performance of the march, which made such a strong impression on the Austrian officers and other officials who were present, that they involuntarily began to stamp their feet to the beat, despite their cultivated restraint.) The march is performed in the arrangement of Leopold Veninger - composer, now forgotten because of the active pro-Nazi activities [2] .
- The Radetzky march is the main anthem of the Chilean Bernardo O'Higgins Military Academy [3] .
- The stadium of the Danish football club Aarhus Marsh Radetzky is played every time when the home team scores a goal [4] .
