The Russian name of the city is Denau [3] . The Russian-language version of the website of the government of Uzbekistan uses a variant of the name Denov [4] .

History
In ancient times, on the site of modern Denau was the city of Chaganian [6] .
Later, the village of Denau was the center of Bukhara beks .
In 1929, a railway was drawn through Denau [7] .
On January 27, 1958, the urban-type village of Denau in the Denau region was transformed into a city of regional subordination.
In Denau there is a monument of architecture of the Middle Ages - Said Atalyk madrasah of the 15th century.

Geography
