Twine ( twine , MFA: / bʲiˈt͡ɕofkə / ) - a thin strong thread for packaging, stitching and the like, made by twisting paper , bast fibers , chemical fibers or threads , as well as their combinations.
For the manufacture of twine from bast fibers used: hemp , short flax fiber, kenaf , jute or a mixture of these fibers. Of the chemical threads used: polypropylene , kapron , polyester and viscose threads. Paper twine is made by twisting one, two or three kraft paper tapes.
By structure, twine is single-stranded and multi-strand. Multifilament twine is produced by twisting several threads or yarns in the opposite direction to the twist direction of the original thread or yarn. In the manufacture of twine from polypropylene yarns, it is allowed not to twist the original thread.
Polypropylene twine (hay knitting) is used in agriculture for collecting [1] hay , straw , fodder, and harvesting hay . Polypropylene hay knitting twine does not enter into a chemical reaction, and this allows it to be used in fermentation process technologies. [2] .
