Fanny Waterman ( Waterman , born Fanny Waterman ; born March 22, 1920 , Leeds ) is a British pianist and music teacher. The daughter of a Russian emigrant of Jewish origin. Lady Commander of the Order of the British Empire ( 2005 ).

Biography
From the age of 17 she studied under the supervision of Tobias Mattei , then studied at the Royal College of Music with . In 1941 , she opened with her performance the concert season in Leeds. During the Second World War she gave concerts with Henry Wood at Albert Hall [1] .
In 1950 , with the birth of a child, she gave up concert activity and completely focused on teaching. Until 2006 , she worked at Leeds College of Music; among her students, in particular, Benjamin Frith . He continues to give master classes in Washington , Seoul , Beijing , Hanover , Leipzig [2] .
Together with , Countess Harwood, she wrote a number of popular study guides, including the book Me and My Piano ( 1989 ), which has been published in many editions, and founded the Leeds International Piano Competition ( 1961) ), which is headed to this day. She was a member of the jury of many international competitions, including the Tchaikovsky International Competition ( 1986 ), the A. Rubinshtein International Piano Competition , and the I Chinese International Piano Competition [3] .
Vice President of the European Association of Piano Teachers (since 1975), World Federation of International Music Competitions (1992-2000); Vice President (1999-2009) [3] , President (since 2009) of the Harrogate International Festival [2] ( North Yorkshire ).
Family
Husband (since 1944) - Jeffrey de Kaiser ( born Geoffrey de Keyser ; d. 2001), a doctor; compiled the rules of the Leeds Piano Competition, which are a model for music competitions [2] ;
