Bill Casey ( Bill Casey ; born February 19, 1945 , Amherst , Nova Scotia ) was a Canadian politician who, before 2009, represented the Cottishland district of Colchester and Mascotadoite Valley .
At first, he represented the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada , then his successor, the Conservative Party of Canada , until June 5, 2007, when he was expelled from the party for voting against the government’s budget. Despite this exception, he was re-elected by an overwhelming majority as independent in the 2008 election . He returned to federal politics in the elections of 2015 , easily winning as a candidate from the Liberal Party of Canada .
