Hollenstein, summer 2005
Hollenstein , German Gollenstein is a menhir about 4 thousand years old. Located in Germany near Bliskastel ( Saarpfalz district) in Saarland . It belongs to the oldest cultural monuments in Germany and the largest menhirs of Central Europe. The height is 6.58 meters.
During World War II, local authorities had concerns that Hollenstein would become a target for French artillery, so an attempt was made to put it on the ground, while the monument was divided into 4 parts. Only in November 1951, the parts were assembled and the monument restored.
