Mawson Peak is a volcano on Heard Island in the Big Ben Massif.

Height - 2750 m above sea level [2] , according to other sources - 2745 m [3] . This is the highest point in the state of Australia . In addition, Mawson Peak is one of two active volcanoes in the country [4] . Since 1910, 10 eruptions have been recorded [5] . The last eruption occurred in February 2016 [6] .
The volcano got its name in 1948 in honor of Douglas Mawson , who visited the island in 1929 during his expedition.
