Biography
In 1848-1855 he studied at Uppsala University , receiving a doctorate in philosophy [1] , and from 1856 he began to lecture there . In 1859, Tamerlan Torell received the position of associate professor, and from 1864 to 1877 he occupied the position of professor of zoology [1] . Health problems forced Torell to leave Sweden in 1877 . Having lived for several years in Italy, he returned to Sweden [1] .
In Italy, working in the Museum of Natural History of Genoa ( Museo Civico di Storia Naturale de Genoa ), he collaborated with the founder of this museum - the famous naturalist Giacomo Doria ( Italian: Giacomo Doria ). His high reputation and knowledge of languages (he was a polyglot ) allowed Torell to communicate and exchange materials with the largest arachnologists of that time: the Englishman Octavius Picard-Cambridge ( English Octavius Pickard-Cambridge ) and the French Eugene Simon ( fr. Eugène Simon ).
