General information
The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul was built on donations to the 50th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in memory of those killed in the tank battle near Prokhorovka on July 12, 1943.
The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul is located in the village. Prokhorovka in a complex with St. Nicholas Church, a home for veterans of World War II and Labor, a clergy house, “Bell of the union of three fraternal Slavic peoples” , a foundation stone, a memorial wall and a tourist center.
Made of stone. Architect - D. S. Sokolov, engineer - E. N. Popov, designer - S. A. Belov. The temple is crowned with three chapters and combined with the bell tower into a single whole. The peculiarity of this temple is that the names of 7 thousand soldiers who fell in the Prokhorov battle are carved on marble slabs of its walls.
The temple is a monument of regional importance.
History
The construction period is from March 1994 to April 1995. It was opened and consecrated on May 3, 1995 by Patriarch Alexy II .
