General Information

The first seeding number in the single player tournament was Igor Andreev (No. 21 in the world at that time). The Russian with difficulty made it to the semifinals, where he lost to future champion Juan Carlos Ferrero . The Spaniard's rival in the title match was the fifth seeding number: the Frenchman Florent Serra , who reached the title match at a similar level for the first time since January 2006. Ferrero interrupted an even larger series without titles at a similar level - before the tournament in Casablanca he last won at a similar level in the fall of 2003 and has managed to lose six finals since then.

The double sowing prize was won by the first seeding alliance: Lukash Kubot and Oliver Marah , who won the first title in the third joint final. In the decisive match, they beat the second duet of the competition - a pair of Simon Aspelin / Paul Henley , who, for the first time since the start of cooperation, reached the title match at a similar level.

Last year's champions did not show themselves too well at the 2009 competition: Gilles Simon did not defend his single title, and Santiago Ventura and Albert Montanes, though they entered the doubles tournament, lost in the quarterfinals, though their rivals, in the end, took the title.
