The joint security forces are headed by an inspector with the rank of deputy inspector general of the Bundeswehr. With the completion of the formation of the CCA, it is planned to entrust them with the tasks of management, provision and training. Among the most important functions of the new component of the Armed Forces are the following: operational management, centralized support, information processing, provision of defense of the national territory, maintenance of warehouses of central subordination.
As the main management bodies in the composition of the CCA formed: the central management (since April 2001 ), the joint command of the support and the joint operational command (from July 2001 ). Since October 2001, the regional headquarters of the defense, military police and training centers have been transferred to them from the ground forces. It is also planned to hand over central services of the Bundeswehr to the subordination of the united support forces, and from the beginning of 2002 the formation of a command and control regiment as well as a strategic (space) reconnaissance command began. In 2002–2003 , it is planned to create headquarters for regiments and battalions of logistic support.
It is assumed that the command of support of the armed forces with four subordinate commands of military districts, the joint operational command and the command of strategic (space) intelligence will also become components of the CCA.
Such a centralization of functions, in the opinion of the country's defense minister, will make it possible to reduce about 8,000 posts in the operational and logistic support units of the Bundeswehr.
