View of the building of the National Congress
The National Congress ( Spanish Congreso Nacional ) is a representative body and the bearer of the legislative power ( parliament ) of Chile , established on July 4, 1811 . The National Congress consists of two chambers:
- lower - Chamber of Deputies , including 120 deputies;
- top - the Senate , which includes 38 senators.

Residence
The new building was built under the rule of dictator Pinochet in the seaside town of Valparaiso , 104 km north-west of the capital ( Santiago ). The old residence was in the center of the capital.
