Corine Mauch is the daughter of Ursula Mauch, who at one time headed the Social Democratic Party in the Swiss Federal Parliament. Corine Mauch grew up in the canton of Aargau , then moved to Zurich , where she studied the economics of agriculture at the Swiss High Technical School Zurich , and also studied at the Swiss High School of Public Administration. For a long time lived in Tibet .
In 1990, she became a member of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland . Since 1999 she has been a member of the Zurich City Council, in 2008 she headed the party faction . Was chairman of the city counting commission.
On December 2, 2008, she was nominated for the post of mayor of the Social Democratic Party. In the first round of voting, she took second place, losing only 1,300 votes to Catherine Martelli, the Liberal Party candidate (FDP). In the second round, she received 58 percent of the vote, and won in all 12 constituencies of Zurich.
She lives together with her long-time partner musician Juliana Muller [4] . Corine Mauch is involved in the environmental movement, acts as a bass guitar player in her own musical group.
