Sergey Ivanovich Yaroslavtsev ( July 6, 1921 - January 12, 1986 ) - a veteran of the Great Patriotic War , commander of the tank of the 257th tank battalion of the 108th tank brigade of the 9th tank corps of the 1st Belorussian Front , Hero of the Soviet Union .

Biography

Born July 6, 1921 in the city of Tomsk in the family of an employee. Russian

Since 1924 he lived at the station of Yashkino, now Kemerovo region . He graduated from high school. Worked as a teacher.

In September 1940 he was drafted into the Red Army by the Yashkinsky Riosenkomat. He served in the tank forces in the 28th Panzer Division of the Belarusian Military District. Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941 . He fought on the Western, Kalinin and 1st Belorussian fronts.

In the early days of the war, he participated in heavy defensive battles near the cities of Baranovichi, Osipovichi, Minsk, Mogilev. He fought in the encirclement, retreated to the east, was severely wounded during a breakthrough from the encirclement. After the hospital, as part of the 360th Infantry Division, he took part in a counterattack near Moscow, and was again wounded. He spent almost a year in the hospital. After recovery, he was sent to the Poltava Tank School, then evacuated to the city of Mary ( Turkmenistan ).

He returned to the front in October 1944 . The combat path was continued by the commander of the T-34 tank of the 257th tank battalion of the 108th tank brigade. He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland.

From January 14 to 26, 1945, in offensive battles in the area of ​​the Polish cities of Szydlowiec, Tomaszow, Lodz, the crew of the tank of Lieutenant Yaroslavtsev destroyed 2 T-IV tanks, 20 vehicles, 6 anti-tank guns, 2 armored personnel carriers, and exterminated up to 30 fascists [3] . Acting in intelligence, he delivered valuable information about the enemy.

When approaching the Warta River, on his T-34 he broke forward and, having destroyed the guards, captured the crossing. Repulsing the enemy’s counterattack, he kept the crossing to the approach of the main units. In this unequal battle, he destroyed 4 anti-tank guns, 12 vehicles, a tank and up to 40 Nazis.

Acting in intelligence, he boldly burst into the settlement Yarychev, occupied by the enemy, and transmitted valuable information to the command. When the tank was hit, the crew fought a heroic battle for 18 hours, repelling the attacks of the Nazis until other tanks arrived. During this time, tankers destroyed 2 anti-tank guns, 10 vehicles and up to 170 Nazis.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 27, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown to this, Junior Lieutenant Yaroslavtsev Sergey Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal ”(No. 8893).

After the war he continued to serve in the army. He served in the Kiev Military District as commander of a tank platoon, company, chief of staff of the training battalion. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1947 . In 1949 and 1954 he graduated from advanced training courses for command personnel. Since 1963, Lieutenant Colonel Yaroslavtsev in stock.

He lived in the city of Tiraspol of the Moldavian SSR (now the capital of the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic ). He worked as a technician at the Electric Appliance Plant. He died on January 12, 1986.
