History
Acrylic fiber was first produced by the American company DuPont . In the 40s of the XX century, the company was actively engaged in the development of a new type of fiber, and in 1948 the first material, called orlon , was obtained. It made an excellent competition to the then popular nylon , but it was very difficult to stain. Continuing further development, the company in 1952 received the long-awaited material, not inferior in quality to the orlon, and at the same time painted without any problems. They called it acrylic.
Application
A variety of types and weaves provides great opportunities for creating the most incredible things. In addition to clothing, acrylic is used for home textiles, but acrylic fibers roll very much and spoil the appearance of the product. It makes beautiful cozy rugs and bedspreads, as well as all kinds of decorative elements. Acrylic is used for children's goods, for example, sewing soft toys and hypoallergenic things. Such linens are also used for furniture upholstery, but in this case it is desirable that the composition includes “reinforcing” threads, providing increased strength [1] .
Transparent plastic (acrylic) is used in the manufacture of various products, for example, acrylic bathtubs, which replaced the iron one [2] .
Also, acrylic-based compounds have found their application in construction. Based on it, sealants, paints, primers for preparing walls and a tool for restoration of bathtubs (bulk acrylic) are produced. Most often, the color of such compounds is white.
