The first battles began in the early morning on November 2, 1918. There was no POV and CAA yet, therefore battles were fought between non-professional volunteers. Initially, the preponderance was in force on the Ukrainian side, when veterans and young people fought on the Polish side (" Lviv eaglets "). Already after the battle for Przemysl from Poland, Polish troops arrived in the city with the support of an armored train .
Street fighting in the city, with varying success, was fought over a period of 20 days. On November 17, 1918, a truce was signed, which the Poles took advantage of. They pulled their troops into the city, and when, on November 21, 1918, the truce expired, they began to storm the Ukrainian quarters. On November 22, the UGA left the city and moved 30 kilometers from Lviv, surrounding it. Later, battles for Lviv were fought until May 1919.
