The goal ( cybernetics ) is the desired state of the cybernetic system, achieved in a controlled process of system development. The state of the system, as well as its trajectory in the state space, is evaluated from the point of view of their correspondence or non-compliance with the goal. Mathematically, the expression of such an assessment is the objective function , the objective functional or quality criterion of the system, the optimization criterion.
