Mascagni, Mario

Mario Mascagni ( Italian: Mario Mascagni ; 1882 , San Miniato - 1948 , Bolzano ) - Italian composer and music teacher. A cousin and student of Pietro Mascagni , father of Andrea Mascagni .

In 1904 he headed a brass band in Siena , with which he won first place in the competition of orchestras of Tuscany [1] . Then he led the music school in Udine , taking part in transforming it into the Musical Lyceum named after Jacopo Tomadini ( 1925 ); in the opinion of the current director of the conservatory, Franco Calabretto, Mascagni can be called the founding father of the conservatory, “an eminent person, who in Udine has not yet been renowned” [2] .

In 1927 he took over the leadership of the newly established Musical Lyceum named after Joacino Rossini in Bolzano and in 1939 transformed it into the Bolzano Conservatory named after Claudio Monteverdi , whose director remained until the end of his life [3] .

Author of chamber music, various transcriptions. In Udine published a small training course on music theory.
