Biography

Born on March 9, 1910 in the village of Zinaidovo (now in the rural settlement of Medvedevo , Rzhevsky district of the Tver region ) in a peasant family. Russian. He graduated from a rural school. He worked at the Drive Belt factory in Moscow. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1941.

In the border troops of the OGPU NKVD since 1932 . Member of the suppression of the Kumul rebellion in the Xinjiang province of the Republic of China . In 1937 he graduated from the Saratov Military School of the Border and Internal Guard of the NKVD of the USSR . Member of the Polish campaign of the Red Army of 1939 and the accession of Bessarabia to the USSR. He was the commander of the westernmost outpost of the Soviet Union in Przemysl. Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941.

Assistant Chief of Staff of the 1st Border Commandant's Office (25th Kagul Border Detachment, Moldavian Border District of the NKVD Troops) Senior Lieutenant Alexander Konstantinov took charge of the defense of frontier outpost No. 5 near the city of Kagul (Moldova), near Stoyanovka village, on June 22, 1941. During the day, the outpost under his command repelled eleven enemy attacks.

On June 24, 1941, Senior Lieutenant Konstantinov, along with his soldiers, repelled the enemy’s railway bridge over the Prut River , personally destroying two enemy machine-gun crews.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 26, 1941, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown to this, Lieutenant Konstantinov Alexander Konstantinovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal ”(No. 618).

In 1950, the border guard hero graduated from the Military Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and served in the border troops. Since 1959, Colonel A.K. Konstantinov - retired. He lived in Odessa . He died on June 16, 1994 . He was buried in Odessa at the Novogorodsky cemetery.

He was awarded the Orders of Lenin , Red Banner , World War 1 and 2 degrees, 2 orders of the Red Star , and medals.

In honor of the Hero, a monument was erected at one of the border outposts.
