Lamont is one of the clans of the highlands of Scotland . The clan originates from the descendant of the Irish prince Anrotan O'Neill ( Anrothan O'Neill ) a certain Lagman ( Lagman ), who lived in the first half of the XIII century . From the same prince come some other clans - Mackavens from Otter , MacLachlan , McNeill from Barra , Maxwells . Thus, these clans trace their history to Niall Nine Hostages , the legendary Irish supreme king of the late IV - early V century .
