Biography
In 1894 he graduated from high school in Vladikavkaz , in 1899 - the faculty of law of Kiev University . He worked as a lawyer in Vladikavkaz, was a member of the Society for the Promotion of Education among Highlanders .
In 1937, he was arrested and allegedly died in custody in 1944. Rehabilitated posthumously.
Creativity
The first work of Alexander Kubalov was the poem Afkhardty Hassan, published in 1895 in Russian and later - in 1897 - in Ossetian. This poem, close to oral creativity and directed against the custom of blood feud , is considered one of the best works of Ossetian literature .
Alexander Kubalov translated the works of Byron , Lermontov and other poets into Ossetian.
Alexander Kubalov collected the Nart epic of the Ossetians , published in poetic editing in 1905 and in 1906 in the Russian translation (under the title “Heroes-Narts”).
Under Soviet rule, Kubalov continued his creative activity. His tragedy, “The Death of the Leader of Alguz” ( Ossetian Fætæg Alguyzy mælæt ) received a prize at a drama competition in 1925 .
