Biography

After the death of his father in 1341, Pierre inherited the duchy of Bourbon and a number of other possessions. In the same year, he first took part in a military campaign under the command of the Duke of Normandy Jean (the future king of France John II the Good), who during the war for the Breton inheritance helped to seize the duchy of Brittany to the French challenger Charles de Blois . Until 1343, Pierre fought in Brittany against the British, taking part in the seizure of a number of Breton cities ( Chantose , Carquefou , Nantes , Ore ).

In 1343, Pierre was sent by the King of France to Languedoc with the rank of lieutenant general, in 1345 - lieutenant general in Bourbonnet , Auvergne , Berry and Marsh . During the war in Guyenne, Pierre participated in the capture of Miremont , Villefranche , Angouleme .
